A new Boardwalk attraction has been built in the city of Myrtle Beach, boosting its skyline. The SkyWheel at 190 feet high is a Ferris wheel that provides stunning views of the Grand Strand and the Atlantic Ocean to visitors. While you’re here, take a stroll along the 1.3-mile Boardwalk for window shopping and people-watching.

The Hollywood Wax Museum in Myrtle Beach is one of the best tourist attractions around. It first opened its doors in 2014 as a way to pay homage to the city’s long film industry history. Here, you can see wax figures of some major movie stars and iconic actors. There is also a significant tribute to King Kong at the museum – it measures 35 feet tall!.

Although typically hot and humid, Myrtle Beach’s tropical subtropical climate can also result in below freezing temperatures in the summer. The warmest months are spring and fall, with average temperatures of 70-80 degrees Fahrenheit. There was even a freak snowfall back in February 2010!

In Myrtle Beach, there are over 60 kilometers of sand to explore. Some of the beaches offer water sports such as kayaking and jet skiing. Many of these excursions are accessible for wheelchairs. At night, there are several activities available, including seeing dolphins.

There are several live events you may attend. One of the highlights in Myrtle Beach is the Carolina Opry, a country, gospel, and other genres of music performance center. Musical performances, dance displays, and comedy acts also appear on the stage. Several of these are family-friendly and have free shows included. CNBC has designated the Carolina Opry as the finest thing to do in Myrtle Beach.

The Ripley’s Aquarium in Myrtle Beach is a must-see. They have all of the standard fish that you’d find at an aquarium, as well as some more unique sea creatures like tarpons, green moray eels, and sea turtles. The Living Gallery was probably my favorite area because it housed such fascinating animals including octopuses, corals, and weedy sea dragons. Visit Friendship Flats to get up close and personal with several of the sea life!

The Grand Strand area of Myrtle Beach, South Carolina is the perfect place to vacation. The region offers an oceanfront boardwalk, lively nightlife, and exceptional eateries and shopping options. You can enjoy year-round beach combing and activities or take the kids for a glass-bottom gondola ride. There’s something for everyone in the Grand Strand!

For history lovers, there is also a warbird park in Myrtle Beach. This museum replaces the old Myrtle Beach Air Force Base and is free to visit. It features an interesting exhibit that includes aircraft still in operation at the time of its construction. Visitors may read the names of those who served the area by looking at it.
